In a display of community engagement and teamwork, Ilitch Companies colleagues joined forces with local nonprofit, Life Remodeled, on their Six Day Project this past week to help revitalize several blocks in Detroit.
As part of the initiative, colleagues from five business units spent the day working on various projects, including picking up blight, mowing grass, raking leaves, and generally beautifying vacant lots across four blocks in northern Detroit.
"This is one of the most wonderful volunteer projects every single year because it is so hands-on,” said Joshua Sanborn, Director of the Ilitch Companies Foundation. “You get out into the neighborhoods. If you want to help, you can directly help."
For nearly a decade, Ilitch Companies has proudly partnered with Life Remodeled to support neighborhood revitalization. What began as a single volunteer initiative has grown into a deep, ongoing collaboration impacting neighborhoods across the city.
“I think the Ilitch Companies Foundation has been volunteering now for nine years, which is an incredible feat in and of itself. And they have partnered with us in so many other ways,” said Diallo Smith, President & Chief Executive Officer of Life Remodeled. “So when you think about all the ways in which our corporate community can really lend a helping hand to help revitalize Detroit neighborhoods, I believe that the Ilitch Companies Foundation stands on top of that tier.”
In the coming months, Ilitch Companies colleagues will continue their community engagement by partnering with additional nonprofit organizations that serve Detroit. Through these efforts, Ilitch Companies aim to make a lasting impact across the city by addressing critical needs and strengthening their relationship with the Detroit community.
