Detroit Tigers Foundation Makes Surprise $25,000 Donation to Local Nonprofits

Five $5,000 gifts celebrate Comerica Park 25th Anniversary Marquee Weekend presented by Comerica Bank

In celebration of Comerica Park’s 25th anniversary, the Detroit Tigers Foundation surprised five local nonprofit organizations with $5,000 grants each, totaling $25,000 in donations.

The grants were presented on Saturday, July 12 during The District Detroit Opportunity Center’s Summer Community Engagement Days at The Ballpark. The surprise moment underscored the Foundation’s long-standing commitment to Detroit’s neighborhoods and next-generation leaders.

Representatives from five Detroit-based nonprofits gathered at the Opportunity Center prior to the Tigers taking on the Seattle Mariners. There each organization was told it would be receiving a $5,000 grant in recognition of their impact and 25 years of service. Following the reveal, the group was escorted to Comerica Park for lunch and to enjoy the game, part of Comerica Park’s 25th Anniversary Celebration weekend.
